When you connect a WhatsApp Business number to Eva, WhatsApp turns off that number’s broadcast lists. That is Meta’s decision, not an Eva setting. Sends to a list happen from Eva instead, with the same number.

What happens to the lists you already had

The broadcast lists you created before stay on the phone as read-only: you can open them and see who is in them, and you cannot send to them. Along with broadcasts, that number also loses disappearing messages, view once and live location in individual chats. Groups keep working the same on the phone. Eva neither sees them nor writes in them.

What replaces them in Eva

A send to a list from Eva goes out from the same number, and does three things a broadcast does not.
  • You choose who with the same filter used in Contacts: tag, city, pipeline stage, whatever you already use there. A broadcast only accepted contacts saved on the phone.
  • You can schedule it for a date and a time, in your workspace time zone.
  • When the person replies, the reply lands in the Inbox and the agent handles it. In a broadcast, every reply arrived loose on your phone.

Segment by purchases and contact activity

Segments can combine the last purchase date, purchased category and purchase count with recent contact: for example, two or more purchases, the latest purchase in a category between 31 and 90 days ago, and no message from us in the last 30 days. Contact includes campaigns, automations, your team and the assistant; you can also distinguish whether the person wrote after our latest message and whether they have an active conversation. The audience is recalculated when preparing the send: if it changes after your review, Eva may ask you to review it again.

How fast it goes out

A number connected to Eva sends the messages of one send one at a time, with a pause between each, to protect the number’s reputation with Meta. A send to 1,000 people from a freshly connected number takes around 8 hours to go out in full. Before you confirm, Eva states the estimated time. WhatsApp also limits how many different people a number can message each day. A new number starts with a low limit, and Meta raises it as the number keeps good quality.

If you prefer to keep your lists

A number that is not connected to Eva keeps its broadcast lists, and in exchange Eva sees nothing from that number: not its conversations, not its contacts, not its replies. Some businesses leave a personal number out of Eva and connect the sales number instead. It is a decision per number.
