# How to buy a number for WhatsApp

> Buy a number inside Eva when you do not have one. That number receives WhatsApp and can also answer calls.

If you do not have a number for WhatsApp, Eva sells you one. That same number receives WhatsApp and can also answer calls, because Meta verifies the number by calling it.

## What you will get

A number of your own inside Eva, ready to connect to WhatsApp the same day.

## Requirements

* An active Eva plan. The purchase is a charge on top of your plan.
* To be the account owner: Eva asks for their confirmation before charging.
* An agent that does not have a number yet. Each agent has one, so the answer **I do not have a number** disappears as soon as you buy it.

## Buy the number

  <Step title="Open WhatsApp in your agent">
    In **AI Agents**, open the agent, go to **Channels** and on the WhatsApp card select **Connect**.

  <Step title="Answer that you have no number">
    Pick **I do not have a number** and select **Buy a number**. Eva takes you to **Voice phone** with the use already chosen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review what the number is for">
    Eva leaves **WhatsApp and calls** selected. Keep it that way: a WhatsApp-only number does not answer calls, and then it cannot receive the call Meta verifies it with.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search for the number you want">
    Type the digits you care about and select **Search**. Eva lists the available numbers with their region.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the purchase">
    Select the number. Eva shows the breakdown of the charge before charging; review it and select **Buy**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go back to WhatsApp">
    When it finishes, Eva confirms the purchase and offers the link to connect that number to WhatsApp, with the right answer already picked.

## How to know it worked

The number appears under **Voice phone** with its status. Call that number and confirm it answers.

## If something goes wrong

### Eva asks for an active plan

Buying a number is an additional charge on top of a current plan. Review [Plans and payments](/en/billing/plans-and-payments).

### Eva says only the account owner can confirm

The charge goes to the account, so the person who owns it authorizes it. Ask them to make the purchase from their own session.

### No number is available

Change the digits you searched for, or search with no filter to see the whole list.

### The number was bought but Eva says its setup is incomplete

The number is already yours; what failed was the setup with the provider. Under **Voice phone**, use **Reconnect** and Eva redoes it.
