# How to connect Gmail or Google Workspace

> Connect a Google email account to Eva through Google's secure authorization, without sharing your password, and bring recent messages into the Inbox.

Connect Gmail or Google Workspace to receive and send email from Eva. Authorization happens
directly in Google. Eva never asks for that account's password.

## Requirements

* The owner or administrator role in the Eva workspace
* Access to sign in to the Google account you want to connect
* Permission from your organization to authorize apps, if you use Google Workspace

## Connect the email

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Members">
    In Eva, go to **Settings → Members**. Find the person who will use the email and select
    **+ Set up** in the **Email** column.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Google">
    Select **Google — Gmail or Google Workspace**.

  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the right account">
    Eva takes you to Google in the same tab. Sign in, check the address shown, and choose the
    account you want to connect.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorize Eva">
    Accept the permissions Google shows. Eva uses them to bring in your email and send from that
    same address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Return to Eva">
    Google sends you back to Eva. The email appears as **Connected** and the first import begins.

    </Frame>
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Eva initially brings in email from the last 5 days. New messages keep arriving while the import
  finishes.
</Note>

<Tip>
  If you enter a Google address under **Other provider**, Eva recommends going back and using the
  Google button. It is faster and does not need a password.
</Tip>

## How to know it worked

The Google card shows it as connected. Open Email in the Inbox to see recent messages. You can also
send a test reply to an address you control.

If the card shows **Needs attention**, open [Troubleshoot email](/en/channels/troubleshoot-email).
